In a clear abuse of executive power, New Mexico tea party Republican Gov. Susana Martinez fired two members of the state’s Labor Relations Board. Labor unions cried foul and the state Supreme Court agreed.
The Governor fired the board member representing labor and another board member when New Mexico law states that the board will consist of one member nominated by labor, one member nominated by management and a third agreed upon by the other two members. The Governor appoints and can fire, none.
