I grew up in South Florida, but I’m now landlocked in Tulsa, OK. I like mangoes in the blender, being outdoors, Jimmy Buffet music, camping, writing and building Web sites.

This blog is in part a way to get the bits and bobs off my desktop and use them somewhere. I also feel the need to punt ideas into the crowd at times. That would be the “View from My Porch (opinion) page.

Feel free to make comments, but I reserve the right to pitch them from the poop deck if I like. It’s my blog after all!

What’s a Moondog?

When I created this site, I was looking for something different, and something that would go along with my then recent adoption of two dogs from the Tulsa SPCA. Little did I know, but it only stands to reason, that the name “Moondogs” would be so widely used.

Astronomy

Moondogs are a phenomenon which occurs when moonlight shines through ice crystals in the atmosphere. They appear as mirror moons at equidistant points around the moon, sometimes in a halo similar to a rainbow. Here’s a gallery of moondog images

Music

The Moondogs “An All Original Variety Band From Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas”.

The Moondogs a self confessed “Pop Punk” band from Derry in Northern Ireland.

Sports

The Mankato Moondogs are part of the Northwoods summer baseball league. An organization made up of teams of NCAA eligible college baseball players from North America.
